The Art of Denim: Made to Order Jeans by TWC
At TWC, we believe denim should tell a story - one of patience, precision, and artistry. That’s why our Made to Order jeans are crafted with an uncompromising dedication to detail, guided by our master denim specialist in Japan.
Each pair of our MTO jeans begin their journey in their Raw state - available from our Ready to wear collection. Our wash is based on a pair of jeans that Adam wore for 5 years before washing. The fade, the wear, the marks were so authentic and perfect, we set the challenge of replicating this jean, we name this our Legacy wash. Unlike mass-produced denim, where shortcuts are taken to speed up production, our jeans undergo a meticulous 45 to 60 day washing process. Each pair passes through over 20 individual washing stages, carefully executed without the use of harsh chemicals. The fresh spring water used is consistently recycled and re-used. We embrace traditional hand-washing techniques that allow the denim’s true character to emerge over time. The tears and patches are applied by hand with equally time intensive care.
This dedication to craft ensures that every pair of TWC jeans has a depth of colour, texture, and authenticity that simply cannot be replicated in mass production. When you invest in a Made to Order pair, you’re not just choosing denim - you’re becoming part of a slow, considered process that celebrates quality, sustainability, and timeless style.
Choose from our three iconic options below and we will personalise your jeans with hand-sanded fading techniques that replicate years of wear, custom washes that create unique character and patchwork details. Fully constructed in Okayama by one of Japan's finest artisan workshops, these jeans are finished with premium details: classic red selvedge, branded button fly, leather patch and chain stitching throughout.
Wash #1
This pair of 007 Relaxed fit jeans have had over 20 washing stages. The whiskers and fades have been applied over many days by hand. This pair feature a large rinse wash denim patch on the wearers left leg, and a tear with reinforced stitching giving an authentic vintage feel. Other hand finished details are the sanding along the rope edge of the back pockets, along the hem edge and at each point where the jean would naturally fade and wear over time.
Wash #2
Each stage of the wash process has been carefully considered to achieve an effortlessly worn-in look, with over 20 steps bringing out the rich character of the denim. This pair of 007 Relaxed fit jeans feature three naturally aged tears with reinforced stitching, enhancing its authentic vintage appeal. A subtle hole near the wearer’s left pocket adds to the well-worn aesthetic. Additional hand-finished touches include delicate sanding along the rope edge of the back pockets, hem, and key areas where denim naturally fades and wears over time.
Wash #3
This edition of the 007 Raw jeans features three hand-made patches, each cut from the same denim and uniquely washed to achieve subtle variations in fade. These carefully considered details add to the depth and authenticity of the wash, mimicking the natural wear of a jean that has been lived in for years. The result is a pair reminiscent of your favourite vintage denim - reimagined through the lens of TWC’s Made to Order Legacy wash. Additional hand-finishing includes sanding along the rope edge of the back pockets, hem, and key areas where denim naturally softens and fades over time.
